Hey Nineteen, Part 12

Hey, they did a favorite ten fictional girls, right? And another page done! I've had a bout of creativity, or at least persistence, and have managed to bang out three pages is pretty short order. I feel a slowdown coming today, though. I know what the next scene is, but I have to figure out how to stage it.

I'm not sure, but this might be the last scene in the bookstore this issue, too. With so many pages left in the book, that seems kind of odd to me.

Okay, time to figure out page nineteen.

Great Googly-Moogly!

I was also thinking "Abby, I'm pregnant!"It's seems un-possible, but it's true. Mid-Ohio-Con is next weekend. I'll be there, as usual, with some new Love and Capes stuff, as mentioned elsewhere. The big MOC is always a great time, so if you're anywhere near Columbus, come on down.

Similarly unbelievable is that September is almost over. Man, this month went fast. Of course, the upside is that the sooner October comes, the sooner we can stop suffering through the Cleveland Indians' 2009 season.

Page Sixteen

Now a silent panel

Back to scenes with Abby and her mysterious brunette friend. But, what I'm really showing off is the books in the background. They're usually books I'm reading or, more recently, jokes. This time, we've got a shout out to my friend Roger Price, another Richard Castle reference (and hey, it's back tonight!), a reference to Mr. Emmy Host and Dr. Horrible as well as Barney on the also-returning How I Met Your Mother (man, will my TiVo be working hard on Mondays) and one of my books, available for purchase here.

Sometimes working on these pages get a little tedious, so these are the things I do to keep myself awake.

Love and Capes Convention Exclusives

You know, I should probably do something special for the upcoming cons. Wait, did you say "What cons?" Why, Mid-Ohio-Con, and Baltimore Comicon, two of my favoritest shows ever. MOC is always a great time, and as I've mentioned once or twice, I'm up for a Harvey Award at Baltimore. So, with all Mid-Ohio-Con Love and Capes exclusive!that, and with the guidance of my own personal Jiminy Cricket named Marc, I'm doing a Love and Capes exclusive comic for each show!

Now, I don't have time to do a completely original book. I toyed with the idea of doing a "clip show" version of the book, where during the bachelor party, Mark and Abby reminisce about things that happened to them in the past eleven issues… er, three years. Then I started working on #12 and realized I had something special. And, since I am taking an extra month to get the twelvth issue done, how about a preview book?

Baltimore Comicon Love and Capes exclusiveSo, at both Mid-Ohio-Con and Baltimore Comicon, you'll be able to buy a twelve page preview comic with the actual first twelve pages of Love and Capes #12. The Mid-Ohio-Con version will feature Mark and Abby dancing in the sky above Columbus, and the Baltimore Comicon version will have them dancing over the night sky of Baltimore's Inner Harbor.Click and embiggen either cover!

Best of all, each issue will only be $2.00!

If I have any leftovers after the shows, I'll put them up for sale on the Love and Capes store.

Oh, Yeah. He's In It, Too.

It really just feels like the Tonight Show, doesn't it?Hey, look, it's the Crusader. We haven't seen him since page three. And since he's the book's other main character, maybe he should pop up now and again.

See, it's that attention to detail that makes me so good at what I do.

I feel like I'm falling behind, just a little bit. I think that's because I'm trying to get ahead a little past my original schedule of ten pages a month. If I'm aiming for ten, I'm good. If I'm aiming for twelve, I'm a little behind.

And typing this isn't getting anything done, so back to the grindstone.

My Dinner with Page 14

She is way too hot for him, isn't she? Here's page fourteen, and we're back to the fake word balloons. Sure, you've never seen these characters before, but you've actually heard them mentioned in the book before, and they're amazingly important to the story. That said, this will be their last appearance in the book. Seems incongrous, doesn't it?

I want to get another ten pages done this month. Such is my goal. I'm trying to gain a little bit of ground just in case I need it, plus with Mid-Ohio-Con and Baltimore Comicon coming up, that's going to mess up the old schedule. In a good way, of course.

Your Mileage May Variant

This was revealed by Chris Ryall of IDW over at CBR today:

There will be variant covers by guys like Joe Corroney (paying tribute to Alex Ross, who said he was amused and not offended by the cover, which shows what a good sport he is), Thom Zahler, and a couple other folk I’m working on. And we’re going to offer the first issue as a variant black and white issue printed on newsprint-type paper, to really use the “Weekly World News”-influenced cover to its fullest. And maybe even rope in fans of the paper who confuse the comic for a new print edition of the paper…

Games People Play

Play the game!

Love and Capes fan Phillip wrote in to tell me that he'd developed a Crusader skin for the Freedom Force game. I don't play the viddea games myself. I find my productivity goes up the less distractions I have embedded into my computer. Although the new DC Comics game that's Games people playdue soon may be too much for me to refuse.

Anyway, I think this is just cool as can be. The only thing cooler is that, thanks to some color codes I sent him, there may be a Darkblade and Titania skin, too.
