Bunnies, Bunnies It Must Be Bunnies!
This is another tracing paper recreation of a MegaCon sketch. I think it's got a lot of great energy to it. I was looking for a place to put it, and what celebrates the resurrection of our Lord better than Victor Von Doom? Okay, not really, but I love writing that Doom dialogue.
Click on the image to see it embiggened. And today's blog title comes from... anyone, anyone... the Buffy episode "Once More With Feeling."
The Neverending Battle
Wait! Don't buy a sketchbook yet!
Do I have your attention? Good. Then read on.
Through teh internets, I've gotten to know Thomas, who not only has a fine first name, but runs the truly excellent Say It Backwards blog, devoted to most things Superman. His nephew is a superhero in his own right, as he's been fighting and beating childhood cancer. Thomas has turned this into a cause and is running an auction to support the Candlelighters organization. The Candlelighters are a group fighting childhood cancer and helping those it attacks and their families. The Candlelighters helped him, and now he's helping them with the auction.
I was asked to contribute a piece, and I was more than happy to do so. If you really need some Thom Zahler art, and want to support a worthy cause, you can bid when it goes online. So, here's what I'm donating:
- Original Supergirl Commission (seen here). There's the black and white original, and the digitally colored high-quality print.
- Full set of Love and Capes.
- Love and Capes t-shirt.
Read more about the Candlelighters here. Read Say It Backwards here. And have a great Easter wherever your here is.
Me. Radio. Again.
It looks like I'm going to be a guest on the internet radio wsRadio.com Comic Book Radio Show tomorrow between 7-8EST. We'll be talking about Love and Capes and anything else they'd like to bring up. You can tune in here, or download it as a podcast.
The Zahler Oeuvre
Wowio now has the complete Maerkle Press selection of titles (save Love and Capes #4-6) available for free download from its service. I think I'll write a little spotlight on some of these books down the road, but for now, if you want to check out the romantic-comedy sitcom Long Distance or the three volumes of the Raider action-adventure-spy series, click on any of the links below.
By Popular Demand
I've mentioned here on the blog that I've been doing more and more con sketches, so many that I'm now taking commissions via the website. I've also been asked "When are you going to do a sketchbook?" Well, the time is now.
I've looked into a variety of options and formats, and what I've come up with is this: Powerful Women. It's a collection of 25 pieces I've done, either at cons or as commissions as well as a ton of original pieces. They're all in full color. The book also features some commentary on each piece. The book comes in at 8.5x5.5, is spiral bound and will go for $15.00. For a limited time, I'll throw in shipping for free, too.
It features characters from all across comics, including Supergirl, Zatanna, Emma Frost, Enchantress, Red Sonja, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, and (surprise) Amazonia.
I'll have it with me at MegaCon, printer willing, and definitely at cons after that.
Let's Hope Nothing Big Happens
I should be on the radio just about now, as long as there's no breaking news again. I'll be on Stump the Panel on WTAM-1100, and you can listen live here.
Let's Try This Again
Tomorrow, in the 11:00 hour, I'll be a panelist on "Stump the Panel" on WTAM-1100 here in Cleveland. Assuming there's no breaking news this time, of course. You can listen live online or download a podcast after the face.
How Did I Miss This?
I don't know how I missed that this posted, but there's an interview with me on the ComicMix podcast. I did this interview back at Mid-Ohio-Con (I think) last year, but I didn't know that it got posted. I don't sound like a complete buffoon, and my voice even sounds okay. Check out the podcast here.
A Candidate We Can All Agree On
I know I've mentioned that I'm going to MegaCon next weekend, but what I haven't mentioned is that I designed a new Toon Tumbler for the event. In these trying electoral times, it helps to have a candidate we can all believe in, so I present the Captain America for President glass. The image is from the cover of Captain America #250, so it's Cap before the whole Civil War sillyness. He's honest, forthright, honorable, and he fought Nazis!
So, if you're going to MegaCon, be sure to pick up one of these glasses...for America!
(Florida residents please take note: No complicated chads will be required for purchase.)
LNC for Free!
Yes that's right, Love and Capes for free, and I'm not talking about Free Comic Book Day this time. The first three issues of Love and Capes are now available for digital download from Wowio. So if you want to check out comicsdom's favorite superhero romantic comedy (said safely since I believe I'm the only one) check them out online.
And, as time goes on, I'll probably post the Raider series, "Long Distance", maybe even "Women Do and Say..."
